Bio

New Orleans native, and Navy Veteran, True Hinds-Madega is a writer-director. Harnessing a passion for visual storytelling, True began her career as an independent music video director. She has worked with musical talents such as Conya Doss, Cody ChestnuTT, Hezekiah, Jneiro Jarel, and J*DaVeY.

In 2011, the Los Angeles Film School graduate won 1st place in the HBFF pitch-a-thon competition which served as a springboard for her screenwriting career. Working with fellow independent filmmakers script consulting, story editing, and script polishing, True has fine tuned her voice and writing style. She has received invaluable feedback from industry professionals on both her feature film scripts and scripted television series. 

True draws her inspiration from the rhythm of life which is infused in her intimate approach to each of her personal projects. 

Her most recent projects include co-writer on a project created by Stacey Muhammad, FINDING FOREVER (2015), writer-producer on her own feature film titled DEEP (2016), a groundbreaking story about a transwoman living deep stealth, GENTRIFCATION NATION (2018) and developed a web series pilot INTIMATE (2018).  True is currently working on a a TV series titled DAR (2022),  based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, about five Tanzanians who reside in Dar determined to make a living in the big city.
